The 1952 Topps baseball set introduced the world to a new era of sports cards. The 1952 cards were the first mainstream set to feature a larger cards, and this
allowed for much more detailed information to be included on the cards, especially the backs of the cards. The front of the cards feature brilliant artistic
portraits of the players, as well as a signature box at the bottom of the card showing the team logo, the player's printed name and a replica of the player's
signature. The cards were so popular with collector's that Topps continued to produce five additional series as the season progressed, and the final set contained
407 cards, the largest number of cards to be featured in a major set in decades. The cards from the sixth and final series are rare, and are now known as the
high number cards. The initial series contained cards numbers 1-80, and each card has two variations--a red back variation and a black back variation.
Star players were found in abundance in the '52 set. A few notables were missing including Ted Williams and Whitey Ford who were overseas in the military that
year, and Stan Musial who had an exclusive contract with Bowman. But just about every other star made it into the set including the following cards which made
